For the treatment of textured (bumpy) scars, we use the Cynosure V-Star to heat and close the microscopic blood vessels that flow to the tissue that created the bumpiness and in the process we help the bumpy scar to shrink in response to the lack of blood flow.

Laser Scar Removal Before and After Pictures

For pigmented scar removal, we use both the pulse dye laser (for reddish scars) and the Medlite and Palomar q-switched lasers to remove darker colored scars (brownish or black scars). The Cynosure V-star is used to close the small blood vessels that cause red colored scars, which in turn helps the injured area match the color of the surrounding tissue. Q-switched lasers (Palomar and Medlite) are used to break up areas of excess pigment in the body by heating up the melanin (excess color) more so than the surrounding skin tissue. This in turn helps return the injred area to the same skin tone as the surrounding area.

During treatment, you will feel a heated, snapping sensation that may cause some discomfort. Treatments normally last between ten minutes and one half hour, and there is no down time for laser scar removal treatments.
