Topography
The topography of the face is how bumpy or smooth it looks and whether the curves of the face are rolling or jagged. Generally the topography of the face becomes more angular as we age. Volume loss causes the lines to become more apparent as thinner skin reveals the bone structure more clearly.
Using Botox, we are able to relax the muscles that cause irregular contours thereby smoothing the area. Using dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane we can smooth out angular lines. Dermal fillers restore smoother, rounder facial contours caused by volume loss.
The patient below was injected with both Botox and Restylane. The patient had under eye loss of volume which led to sagging skin and dark circles. Restylane was used to replace the under eye volume loss and Botox was used to relax the forehead muscles, which led to the smoothing of the horizontal forehead lines.
