Types of Hair

There are many different types of hair. It comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Hair in different areas of the body has different physical characteristics, growth cycles and follicle depths, and all of these factors will affect how we treat the unwanted hair, and the expected results achieved from laser hair removal.

Causes of Unwanted Hair

There are number of different reasons for unwanted

hair. It can be caused or worsened by such factors as gender, genetics, race, age, and hormonal changes in the body such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause. The issue of unwanted hair can be equally as problematic for men as it is for women. Excess facial hair is closely related to your genetic background. Often unwanted hair increases with age, but pregnancy, puberty, and menopause can also cause hormonal changes that affect hair growth.

Hair Growth Cycle

Hair has three different cycles, anagen, catagen, and telogen. Hair growth cycles are important because they affect the outcome of your laser hair removal program. When the hair is in the Telogen or “resting" phase, the target (the melanin at the base of the hair follicle) is not present. Because the target is not present during the resting phase, hair removal will not occur. For permanent hair removal to occur, the hair must be in the Anagen (growth) phase when the laser treatment is performed for the process to work. For this reason, the duration between laser hair removal treatments must match as closely as possible to the length of the hair growth cycle for the area of the body being treated. Factors such as age, ethnicity, gender, medication, hormones, and location on the body can all influence the hair growth cycle and there is no one formula for estimating the growth cycles exactly, but it can be approximated.

Celibre's Laser Hair Removal Treatment Plan

The anagen phase is the active growth phase for the hair. Pigmentation (melanin) content is highest during this phase, causing rapid growth. During this phase, laser hair removal treatments work best because of the higher melanin content.

The catagen phase is a short transition stage that occurs at the end of the anagen phase. It signals the end of the active growth of a hair. This phase lasts for about 2-3 weeks, and during this time, blood flow to the hair is cut off through the dermal papilla.

The telogen phase is the resting phase of the hair follicle. At any given time, 10%-15% of all hairs are in the telogen phase. This phase lasts for about 100 days for hairs on the scalp and much longer for hairs on the eyebrow, eyelash, arm and leg. During this phase the hair follicle is completely at rest.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser Hair Removal can permanently remove unwanted hair by causing a very small thermal injury at the base or “bulb" of the hair follicle. The process works because the heat of the laser damages the microscopic blood vessels that feed the follicle with blood while preventing injury to the surrounding tissue. When this small thermal injury is created the hair is no longer able to regrow and permanent hair removal results.

Depending on the skin type of the individual being treated, Celibre uses one of several different lasers to accomplish the same goal of laser hair removal. Equipment choice is a very important factor in the effectiveness of your laser hair removal treatment because it affects results. The correct laser for African American skin is not necessarily the right choice for pale Northern European skin. Fortunately at Celibre we have a number of options when it comes to choosing the correct laser for your laser hair removal procedure.

Laser hair removal works most effectively with multiple treatments. Because the hair being treated is not always in the Anagen or growth phase, multiple treatments (typically at least six) are required to achieve significant laser hair removal.

Expected Outcomes for Laser Hair Removal Treatments

Although laser hair removal is different from patient to patient (based on skin type and the coarseness and color of hair), there are some generally accepted expectations.

70% of patients get 70% or more removal.

25% of patients get up to 95% removal.

5% of patients do not respond well to laser hair removal techniques.

Types of Laser Hair Removal

Facial Hair Removal - Laser Facial Hair Removal is a cosmetic procedure that is commonly performed at our facilities. It is safe, effective, and the lasers used are all FDA approved. Laser Facial Hair Removal most commonly involves treatments for chin hair removal or the removal of hair on the upper lip.

When compared with alternative methods of hair removal, such as waxing or electrolysis, laser facial hair removal quickly emerges as the supperior option! Using a laser to get rid of unwanted facial hair is quicker, easier, and far more comfortable than the alternatives. In fact, the proceedure can be completed in as little as 10 minutes per teatment.

From sideburns or the upper lip, to chin or neck - here at Celibre, we can treat all facial areas. Moreover, a patient is not required to allow the hair to grow prior to receiving treatment. And becase we use over 20 kinds of FDA approved lasers, we can customize a facial hair removal solution on your unique, specific needs, skin type, and hair type. This approach yields spectacular results and we have thousands of satisfied laser hair removal patients. Finally, the laser facial hair removal treatment received at Celibre will not only get rid of unwanted hair above the skin, but it will also prevent that “five o’clock shadow!”

Body Hair Removal - Are you bothered by unwanted body hair? Is excessive back hair, chest hair, abdominal hair, neck hair or underarm hair preventing you from being comfortable at the beach? If unwated body hair is preventing you from being able to comfortable take your shirt off, Celibre can help! Laser Hair Removal is the best way to permanently get rid of unwanted hair anywhere on your body.

Our practitioners use a number of FDA-approved lasers, so each treatment is customized to your specific skin type and the area of the body that requires treatment. Moreover, it is a time saving process when you consider all the time you will save on shaving or waxing.

Arm Hair Removal - If you are bothered by the presence of dark hair on your arms, know that laser arm hair removal offers a easy, permanent solution to your problem. Our FDA-approved, state of the art lasers will be able to permanently remove arm hair, regardless of skin type in a short period of time.

Terminal hair, which is a name for unusually thick or dark arm hair, can be removed using our advanced laser technology. Moreover, treatment is nearly pain free, and when compared to repeated, costly, and painful waxing alternatives, our patients have an easy choice!

Bikini Line Hair Removal - Do you feel insecure in your bikini? It is difficult to appear confident at the beach without having to worry about embarasing bumps caused by shaving or stray hairs that were missed during shaving. After treatment is complete, you will find that the painful shaving bumps and razor burn will disappear, and worrying about ingrown hairs will also be a thing of the past.

Celibre offers a permanent solution to bikini line hair removal. Our FDA-approved lasers are safe and easy to use. They don’t take a long time (some procedures take as little as 10 minutes to complete) and the treatment is virtually painless.

Eyebrow Hair Removal - The treatment of a “uni-brow” is one of the most common forms of laser facial hair removal that we see requested. This condition affects both men and women, and the traditional solution is tweezing and waxing. Both are painful procedures that require timely, ongoing maintenance.

By opting for eyebrow laser hair removal, you will no longer have to concern yourself about excessing brow hair. It is a quick, pain free, permanent solution that will keep you looking your best. For added caution, we ensure that all our patients wear protective goggles, so that any possible harm to the eyes can be prevented.

The procedure only requires about 15 minutes. After completing a treatment, an individual may experience very slight irritation, surrounding the area where hair was removed. The sensation is similar to that of a sunburn, and similarly dissipates over a few days’ time.

Leg Hair Removal - Are you sick of shaving your legs? If so, know that Celibre offers the fast, easy and permanent solution that will save you time, money, and comfort in the long run! Our expert medical staff can perform a treatment within an hour.

The laser leg hair removal treatment will not only save you money (it is said that women spend nearly 60 hours per year on shaving their legs alone) but it will save you valuable time. Moreover, you will never have to pack your shaving materials in your travel suitcase ever again!

We have helped thousands of patients to get rid of unwanted hair, and now we are ready to help you, too.
