We use several different lasers to treat cherry hemangiomas including the long pulsed yag laser and the pulsed dye laser. Pulsed dye lasers are specifically designed to treat vascular conditions such as cherry hemangiomas and they work by focusing energy on the hemoglobin in the blood. Using the pulsed dye laser allows us to heat up and close the small blood vessels that make up the cherry hemangioma. Heating these blood vessels up enough closes them completely and eliminates the cherry hemangioma.

The long pulsed yag laser is also used to treat cherry hemangiomas. It works in a similar fashion to the pulsed dye laser in that it heats and closes the blood vessels that make up the cherry hemangioma.
